Several police officers reportedly died last night, 19th April, following an accident along the Thika Superhighway.
According to a video uploaded on YouTube by NTV, a lorry driver lost control and crashed into a police car.
The security vehicle was ferrying the officers to enforce the curfew, which starts at 8pm and ends at 4am in the disease-infected counties of Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, Kajiado and Machakos.
Some of the officers sustained serious injuries and were treated at various health facilities in Nairobi.
Since Saturday, the police have been brutally implementing the curfew directive.
Hundreds of motorists have been forced to spend the night on the roads due to the blockades at various entry or exit locations.
But what is even more concerning is the fact that the officers are closing the service lanes, where ambulances and other essential service providers should pass.
Kenyans are now worried that the high-handedness could lead to more loss of lives, as the government insists that the curfew is meant to protect Kenyans from the third wave of coronavirus pandemic.
