Panic in Nanyuki as Kenya Air Force Fighter Jet’s Part Falls From The Sky

There was a scare in Matanya Village, Nanyuki, in Laikipia County on Monday, 9th November, after an unusual incident.

Residents saw a huge piece of glass that resembled the shape of a canopy with bits of electrical wiring fall from the sky.

Stunned, they made their way to the foreign object but before they could touch it Kenya Air Force officers arrived.

The soldiers were in a pick-up truck mounted with a high calibre machine gun.

They were, however, friendly to the villagers.

The military officers from the Rapid Deployment Squadron (RDS) unit hurried and took possession of the object, which they identified as rare canopy of one of their fighter jet.

Canopy is a glass enclosure that protects a pilot from wind and other elements.

It was not immediately established how the canopy got detached from the fighter jet that was manufactured in 2016 by a California, US-based aircraft company.

The fate of the pilot is unknown, but it assumed he safely made it back to the Nanyuki military base.

LitKenya has established that such incidents happen in the world of fighter jets, and especially during drills.
