The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has appointed Massa Hamisi Salim as the acting Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
According to the NPSC, Dr Massa will work until the position is substantively filled in 14 days.
“Massa will be the DCI in an acting capacity until the position is filled substantively and competitively in at least 14 days,” NPSC stated.
Hamisi has been serving as acting Deputy Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
His appointment follows the exit of former Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti.
On Tuesday, 27th September while unveiling his cabinet, President William Ruto announced that he had received and accepted the resignation of Kinoti.
“I have received the resignation of the DCI Director, Mr Kinoti, and I have transmitted the same to the National Police Service to proceed with advertising that position, and meanwhile they should get somebody to act in the place of Mr Kinoti,” President Ruto said.
The commission is seeking to recruit a new DCI boss and those who want to succeed Kinoti have until 6th October to apply.
Interested applicants must be citizens of Kenya, hold a degree from a recognized university, have 10 years’ experience in management and proven knowledge in criminal investigations and policing and meet requirements for chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
