Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi has defended Governor Mike Sonko over his mounting woes arising from investigations into his conduct.
Sonko has recently found himself on the wrong side of the authorities with investigative agencies digging into his financial dealings as well as his criminal past.
On November 5, Sonko was questioned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over his alleged cover-up of his past brushes with the law.
But Elachi, who was speaking during an interview with K24 on Sunday evening, linked Sonko’s troubles to politics.
The speaker, who spent a year out of office after being ousted by MCAs, said that Sonko’s problems intensified after he allowed her back into the office.
She said Sonko was being hit very hard following a fact that no one believed she would return to her office after her dramatic ouster last year.
