President Competes in ‘Beyond Zero’ Half Marathon

President Uhuru Kenyatta participated today, 8th March, in the two-kilometre Beyond Zero Half-Marathon flagged off by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta at Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi.

The Head of State ran an impressive 2.6km, which he finished on top after clocking 30 minutes, 50.1 seconds.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his Machakos counterpart, Alfred Mutua, Cabinet Secretaries Sicily Kariuki and Margaret Kobia were some of the dignitaries who took part in the same race.

Vincent Kipchumba and Lydiah Njeri were crowned the winners of the 5th edition of the Beyond Zero Half Marathon.

Amsterdam Marathon champion Vincent Kipchumba clocked 1:01:54 in the main event, as he continues his preparations for the London Marathon.

Nicholas Kosimbei took the runner-up position after clocking 1:02:28, Albert Kagongo took the 3rd position.

In the women’s category, Paris Half Marathon silver medallist Lydia Njeri led, setting a time of 1:12:03. The second runner-up, Emily Chebet, timed 1:12:33. Pacificia Jeploo came in third, clocking 1:12:46.
