Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga has cut short his five-day official visit to the United States to attend the burial of Kenya’s third President, Mwai Kibaki, on Saturday, 30th April.
Odinga will return home on Wednesday,27th April, according to Raila Presidential Campaign Secretariat Press Secretary Dennis Onsarigo.
“Rt Hon Raila Odinga, the Azimio la Umoja -One Kenya coalition flag-bearer, will cut short his current US tour and return home on Wednesday ahead of the funeral of former President Mwai Kibaki,” Onsarigo said in a brief statement.
Raila’s trip to the US was supposed to end on Friday, 29th April.
He will arrive back on the day that the public viewing of the late President’s body at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi, comes to an end.
Friday has been designated as a national holiday for Kibaki’s funeral on Saturday, 30th April.
Kibaki passed away at the Nairobi Hospital last Friday.
He has been ailing for three years, according to his son, Jimmy Kibaki.
