An election campaign billboard with the portraits of Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate, Martha Karua, has been vandalised in Bomet County, a stronghold of Deputy President William Ruto.

The huge banner was installed on Thursday, 2nd June, and defaced hours later.

No suspects had been arrested by the time of filling this report.

Police said the vandalism had not been reported.

This comes in the wake of growing political intolerance in some parts of the country.

Recently, DP Ruto’s billboard was pulled down by unknown people in Kisumu County, where his major competitor, Raila Odinga, enjoys a near-fanatical following.

However, ODM Director of Communication Philip Etale denied the claims, insisting that the outdoor board was still standing.

Sharing pictures of the said billboard, Etale accused the DP of trying to portray the Luo community in a bad light.
