ODM leader Raila Odinga was among the mourners stunned by news of the the untimely death of Court of Appeal Judge James Odek.
The former Prime Minister said death had robbed the Judiciary of a valuable member at a critical time for our country and the justice system.
“My deep condolences to the family and friends of Court of Appeal Judge Prof Justice James Otieno Odek. His untimely death robs the Judiciary of a critical member at a very critical time for our country and the Justice system.Wishing peace and strength to the family and his professional colleagues, ” he tweeted
Judge Odek collapsed and died in his home at Milimani Estate, Kisumu County.
He was to appear on the bench on Monday but could not be reached, as his phone went unanswered.
The judge was last seen in public on Friday before he went missing, only to be found dead on Monday.
Orange Democratic Movement Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna also sent his condolences through a tweet.
“My sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late Justice Prof Otieno Odek, a brilliant mind taken from us too soon. May God comfort you during this very difficult time. Rest in peace Judge, ” Sifuna said.
