Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has successfully undergone surgery on his back, ODM Communication Director Philip Etale has confirmed.
Etale, through his official Twitter handle on Monday afternoon, 29th June, revealed that doctors at a German hospital in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had identified and fixed the problem.
The African Union Infrastructure envoy, he said, had come out of the theatre, and was on bed rest. Etale said the former Prime Minister was recuperating in the hospital and would be back in Kenya soon.
Raila family spokesperson Oburu Odinga, who is his elder brother, on Wednesday last week confirmed that the former premier had been admitted to the German hospital in Dubai.
Dr Oburu dismissed social media reports that Raila had gone to China for medical treatment.
Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho, on 26th June, 2020, revealed that he had spoken to the ODM leader, assuring Kenyans that he was recuperating after surgery and would soon be back home.
Joho, through a video posted on his official Twitter handle, urged Kenyans to pray for Raila, reminding them that leaders are also just human beings and can face health challenges like any other person.
