Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has rebuked any government officials opposed to Deputy President William Ruto.
Taking to his official Twitter account on Sunday evening, Murkomen said that government officials who feel they are tired of DP Ruto should resign and join a government of their own choice.
According to Murkomen, nobody is going to leave Uhuruto, the election pact between President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto.
The Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator demanded respect for the presidency as whole.
“There are too many stories about DP Ruto this and that. Get it from us, if you serve in this government or you are a Jubilee leader and you are tired of DP Ruto, resign&join the government you want. Nobody is going anywhere away from UHURUTO. You MUST respect the Presidency as a whole. Period!” he tweeted.
His post comes amid criticism from the public of Ruto’s decision to oppose the President’s stand on Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
The DP on Saturday dismissed the BBI sensitisation meetings being held across the country as a waste of public resources.
On Friday, pro-BBI leaders, including former Premier Raila Odinga, were in Kisii Town for one such sensitisation meeting.
Today (Sunday), they met at Nzoia Sugar Guesthouse in Bungoma County ahead of a mega BBI meeting to be held on January 18, at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
The DP has been accused for going against the President on several occasions.
The BBI arose out of President Kenyatta’s March 9, 2018 handshake with ODM leader Odinga as a way of building bridges to a better and unified country.
