An assistant chief is alleged to have defiled a 16-year-old schoolgirl, sending shock waves through a village in Machakos County. This is said to have occurred in Vyulya Location in Mwala Sub-County, on Sunday, 28th June, 2020.
The administrator is said to have sexually molested the Standard Eight pupil.
Mwala Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner Aphaxard Gitonga said the suspect had been arrested and was being held at Masii Police Station.
He said last evening that the girl was first taken to Masii Hospital for a medical assessment before being transferred to a rescue centre in Mwala Township.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in a Machakos court today.
Machakos Wiper nominated MCA Margaret Mwikali said it was so saddening to have those supposed to enforce the law, breaking it.
“The person we look up to for the safety of our children is one actually hurting them,” she lamented
She said the violation of children’s rights should never be condoned.
Meanwhile, the Machakos County education minister recently announced the start of investigations into the alarming teenage pregnancies reported during the Covid-19 pandemic. Some 4,000 girls are said to have been impregnated during the prolonged school holiday,
