A passenger aircraft belonging to Skyward Express, which was flying from Nairobi to Mandera, crash-landed on Wednesday morning, 21st July, at Boru Hache Military Base near the Kenya-Somalia border.

Confirming the incident, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) boss Gilbert Kibe said that all the 45 passengers aboard flight registration number 5Y-GRS are safe.

The cause of the accident is yet to be revealed.

This comes just a week after one person was killed and two others injured after a light aircraft crashed in the hilly Jerusalem area of Ndabibi in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

The aircraft, registration 5Y-BCL, which is used for monitoring locusts invasion had three people on board.

Last month, 10 Kenya Defence Forces soldiers were killed and 13 others injured after a helicopter crashed and burst into flames in Ol Tepesi, Kajiado County.

The soldiers were on a training mission when their Mi-171E chopper crashed several minutes after take-off from their base in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
