A snake caused panic at the home of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in Yatta, Machakos County when some guests spotted slithering where they were seated.
The reptile, which is often associated with bad omen in many African cultures, momentarily disrupted the meeting that is currently ongoing at the former Vice-President’s residence.
In a video seen by Litkenya.com, some people were seen running while others shouted “Shindwe (you are defeated)” at the top of their voices.
However, some men intervened and neutralised the snake without killing it. One of the men walked away with it.
Kalonzo is hosting a group of Ukambani politicians and opinion leaders to chart the way forward ahead of the August General Election.
The group is likely to endorse the Wiper boss for the presidency or advise him who he should work with in the run-up to the poll.
However, the three governors from the region – Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Alfred Mutua (Machakos) – have vowed to skip the meeting.
The county bosses claim that Kalonzo’s time as the kingpin is up and should retire.
They also say the former VP did not initiate any meaningful development projects in the region when he was in government.
