Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Sofapaka has confirmed the signing of Kenyan international Michael Kibwage from KCB Football Club.
The 23-year-old defender has inked a two-year deal with Batoto Ba Mungu, which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
After signing his new contract, the former AFC Leopards player said he was ready for the new challenge and he would give the best to the club.
“I am excited to be here. Sofapaka is a big club with ambitions to achieve, and I am glad to be part of the project. Commanding an automatic starting place won’t be a walk in the park, but am ready to give my best for the club,” said Kibwage.
He becomes the club’s seventh signing after it secured the services of Isaac Mitima, Michael Karamor, Michael Bodo, Kevin Omondi, Roy Okal, and Paul Kiongera.
The Mukumu Boys High School alumnus made his debut for AFC Leopards in 2017, in a match against Tusker FC. He made 47 appearances and won the GOTV shield cup with the club before moving to KCB in 2018.
Kibwage has 14 caps for the national team, Harambee Stars, having made his debut in 2018 against Swaziland.
Sofapaka will start their 2020/21 campaign with a clash against Kibwage’s former team KCB on 22nd November before playing Kakamega Homeboyz away on 29th October.
Coach Sam Timbe’s side will be up against Wazito FC on 5th December in their second home tie.
