Embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has accused the Daily Nation of publishing a splash front page story that cast aspersions on his administration.
On his social media platforms, the suspended governor spent a bit of time on Monday, 20th December, updating information on the development projects he claims have been completed during his leadership or are under construction.
Sonko used the word ‘bombastically’, derived from the nation’s headline, ‘Mr Bombastic’, in which he was described as a flamboyant politician with a poor development track record, two years since he took over at City Hall.
“We now have the newly renovated maternity wing at the Mbagathi Hospital. The 66-bed capacity maternity wing has been ‘BOMBASTICALLY’ renovated and will now end cases of congestion at Mbagathi Hospital.
“Our mothers will now ‘BOMBASTICALLY’ give birth in a new and refreshing environment,” Sonko wrote.
In another Facebook post, he wrote: “Very soon, ‘BOMBASTICALLY’ Mama Lucy Hospital will finally open a 66-bed capacity maternity wing. The wing will also have general wards, an Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Unit.”
Apart from the two posts above, the suspended city governor had five other messages directed targeted at the Daily Nation.
He also declared that despite all the ‘noise’, his government would continue to fix the city, which is said to be messy.
However, Sonko cannot access his office to conduct any business as he has barred by court over a pending graft case.
