Struggling Wazito FC Fire Head Coach Francis Kimanzi

Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Wazito FC has sacked head coach Francis Kimanzi.

Kimanzi, who has been in charge for over a year departs from the team alongside his assistants Jeff Odongo and John Kamau as well as goalkeeper coach Samuel Koko .

Following his exit, former head coach Fred Ambani will take over in an interim capacity.

“We can confirm that head coach Francis Kimanzi, his assistants Jeff Odongo and John Kamau, and the goalkeepers’ coach Samuel Koko have left the club. We wish them well in their future endeavors.

“Youth team head coach Fred Ambani assumes first-team duties in the interim with immediate effect,” Wazito confirmed in a statement.

Kimanzi, who took over the reigns in November 2020 following the exit of Ambani, leaves the club struggling for points in the ongoing 2021/2022.FKF Premier.

For one and a half season in charge, coach Kimanzi has managed 45 games, recording 14 wins, 12 draws and 19 losses.

His sacking comes after three consecutive defeats in the top-flight games.

Wazito lost to Bidco United 1-0 on 30th December followed by a 1-4 defeat to Posta Ranger and another 2-4 loss to Vihiga Bullets last weekend.

Currently, Wazito are ranked 16th in the league standings with nine points after 13 matches.
