A suspected coronavirus patient is being examined at an isolation centre in Kitui County. The patient was admitted to the Kauwi Level Four Hospital, Kitui West.
She had visited Kitui Referral Hospital exhibiting symptoms likely to be those of the deadly virus.
County Health minister Richard Muthoka said that the 17-year-old girl had travelled from her home in Eastleigh, Nairobi, when she fell ill and presented herself to the hospital.
“She had fever, sore throat, headaches and had difficulty breathing. She has been transferred to Kauwi Level Four Hospital and she is being assessed at the coronavirus Isolation centre.”
The health boss revealed that her test samples had been sent to Mbagathi Hospital, Nairobi, for further examination.
Governor Charity Ngilu has ordered the suspension of all public gatherings and urged all to observe the safety guidelines against the virus.
The county held prayers at Kitui Stadium as the National Prayer Day was observed at State House, Nairobi, today.
