Fake Doctors Administer Sub-Standard Covid-19 Jabs 

Two posing as doctors yesterday appeared at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi charged with inoculating Kenyans with unauthorised Covid-19 vaccines.

Wallace Mugendi and Kenneth Njeru, reportedly claiming to be doctors from the Kenyatta National Hospital, duped scores of Nairobi residents to believe they were administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Each recipient paid Ksh3,500.

Unknown to the people, the two were injecting water into their bodies.

Interestingly, the suspects did the illegal vaccinations between July and August, a time when Kenya had not been supplied with a single dose of the J&J vaccine.

What Top Presidential Aspirants Are Preaching

With the 2022 General Election fast approaching, the four top presidential aspirants have started to share snippets from their manifestos.

Deputy President William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, his ANC counterpart, Musalia Mudavadi, and Wiper chief Kalonzo Musyoka have developed catchy words to attract voters.

The DP is building his presidential bid around ‘Hustler Nation”’ while the former recently launched a new strategy dubbed, Azimilio La Umoja (Declaration of Unity).

For his part, Mudavadi is pitching his ambition under Uchumi Bora (prosperous economy) slogan. Kalonzo is yet to come up with a tagline, but he says he has a dream of making Kenya a 24-hour economy if elected President.

Orie Rogo Manduli is Dead 

Veteran politician, journalist, and businesswoman Orie Rongo Manduli passed away yesterday at her home in Riverside, Nairobi. She was 73.

A statement from the family revealed the former Miss World Kenya had been ailing for some time.

Manduli also advocated women’s rights, donning eye-catching dresses and massive headgear as well as giving controversial opinions about various topics.

At the age of 16, she got married to filmactor Oliver Litondo before they called it quits three years later. They were blessed with three daughters. Later, she Norman Manduli, a Zambian from of the royal families, and they settled. Norman died in 2003.

Orie Rogo Manduli: A Woman of Many Firsts

In her 73 years on earth, Orie Rogo Manduli lived her life to the fullest, breaking many barriers here and there.

In 1974, she became the first Kenyan woman to compete in the East Africa Safari Rally.

Later she would serve as the first female chairperson of the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO).

Manduli loved media attention, with her way of dressing stealing the show in every function she turned up.

Waiguru Says She Can’t Defend Her Seat on Jubilee Ticket 

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has made the clearest indication yet that she is ditching Jubilee Party, saying the President’s was party could not secure her re-election.

Speaking to Citizen TV, the county boss the party had lost touch with its members as a result of poor leadership and dictatorship.

She hinted that she could defect to Deputy President William Ruto-linked United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

ODM Cancels Grassroots Elections 

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has abandoned its earlier plan to hold grassroots elections this month.

Instead, the Raila Odinga-led party asked members who are eyeing various positions across the country to consult, build consensus and present a list of new officials before Saturday, September 18.

ODM National Elections Board (NEB) said the much-touted polls had to be canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kalonzo Warned as He Reportedly Warms to Raila 

Leaders from the Ukambani region have cautioned Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka against working with ODM boss Raila Odinga again.

In a press conference, the Wiper politicians said they would dump the former Vice-President if he succumbs to pressure to deputise the former Prime Minister for the third time in the 2022 presidential contest.

There has been speculation that the former Vice-President is warming to Raila’s side

Nyeri Deputy Governor Sues Her Boss 

Nyeri Deputy Governor Caroline Karugu lodged a suit against her boss, Governor Mutahi Kahiga, and the county secretary over her salary and other benefits.

In her petition, Karugu claims she has not received her salary and allowances since November 2019, when she fell out with Kahiga.

Further, she said she has been barred from attending Cabinet meetings.

The case will be mentioned on September 16.

Judge Chitembwe Admits Money Was Found in His Office 

Despite his lawyer telling the media that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) did not recover even a single penny when they raided his office in Nairobi, High Court Judge Said Chitembwe yesterday, 8th September, confirmed money was recovered.

He revealed that the sleuths found over Ksh700,000 in cash a month ago.

However, Justice Chitembwe denied it was a bribe, insisting that the money was to be used to pay his son’s tuition fees. He said his son studies in Australia and was he planning to deposit. the moeny

Laikipia Skirmishes 

Tiaty MP William Kamket and former Laikipia North lawmaker Mathew Lempurkel were yesterday arrested and questioned by DCI detectives over the ongoing tribal clashes in Laikipia County.

The State accuses the two of funding bandits that have been unleashing terror on local residents.

Despite security teams mounting operations, the bandits have stepped up their attacks, with Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya suggesting that the cattle rustlers have sophisticated weapons, making job more difficult.
