Ruto to Investigate Uhuru if He Wins 

Deputy President William Ruto has revealed that he will go after his current boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta if he wins the presidency next month.

Speaking during the launch of his manifesto on Thursday, the second in command said the Jubilee government is squarely responsible for the economic mess and persons behind it must be punished for taking Kenyans through hell.

He said a tribunal will be formed to investigate State capture and other sins committed by the outgoing administration which he part of, but claims that the President sidelined him in favour of ODM leader Raila Odinga after the March 9, 2018 ‘Handshake’.

Additionally, Ruto asserted that he will open the economy by freeing key sectors from certain families that have monopolised business.

Raila Trashes Ruto’s Manifesto 

ODM leader Raila Odinga yesterday laughed off the manifesto launched by Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday, June 30.

Taking his campaigns to Nyamira County, the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate described the Kenya Kwanza Alliance economic blueprint as a cosmetic document.

He questioned why Ruto and his troops failed to detail how they fight corruption and address the economic challenges facing Kenyans.

Raila added that there was no difference between his current promises and the ones he made in 2013 and 2017 when he was running on a joint ticket with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The founder of Mediamax Networks Limited, which owns K24, Milele FM, Kameme FM, and several other media brands, has opened up about how she lost her empire.

Confirming rumours that have been circulating online and offline, Rose Kimotho narrated that a loan she took from CBA Bank (now NCBA) was the beginning of her downfall.

A Ksh12 million credit ballooned to Ksh70 and the interest was growing every 24 hours. The bank, which is associated with the Kenyatta Family asked her to cede the business or explain how she will service the loan. She went for the former, making the First Family owned of the media operation.

Kimotho recently opened a new Kikuyu station “Kayu FM” which has poached top talents from Kameme FM.

Sakaja Registers Win in Court 

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja got a reprieve yesterday after the High Court refused to stop the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from printing ballot papers for the Nairobi governor election.

Dennis Wahome, a voter in Nairobi wanted Justice Anthony Mrima to issue an order suspending the printing until a suit challenging the UDA gubernatorial candidate’s academic papers is heard and determined.

Mrima argued that stopping the exercise would affect other candidates who are not parties to the case.

This comes after the Commission for University Education (CUE) revoked Sakaja’s degree certificate for the second time.

Ben Pol: Why I Divorced Anerlisa Muigai 

Tanzanian musician Ben Pol has explained the circumstances that led him to divorce Kenyan entrepreneur and Keroche heiress Anerlisa Muigai.

Speaking to the Saturday Nation, the artiste said claimed that Anerlisa drained him physically and emotionally to a point she couldn’t take it anymore. He says there were numerous red flags he ignored before wedding the rich girl.

He filed for divorce in April 2021, 11 months after settling down with Anerlisa.

A few months ago, Anerlisa said the union failed to work because Ben did not respect it.

Uhuru Happy With KDF Work 

President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday heaped praise at the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) for prudent management of parastatals it has been given to operate.

The President noted that several government agencies, including the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) and meter-gauge railway, were on the brink of crumbling before the military took over and turned things around.

“I have tasked KDF from time to time to take charge of various strategic national programmes and even to rescue failed institutions. You have revived the agencies in a very impressive manner,” he said while speaking at Moi Barracks, Eldoret on Friday.

Stop Imposing Raila on Kenyans, Ruto Tells Uhuru

Deputy President William Ruto has yet again hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta for backing Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Speaking in Embu, the UDA presidential flag bearer insisted that Raila is a “State project” and must be rejected by the Mt Kenya region.

He claimed that Raila and his running mate Martha Karua have nothing to show for the years they were in government.

Raila Defends Matiang’i 

Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has lashed out at Deputy President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance for using Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as a punching bag to project their frustrations ahead of the General Election.

Speaking in Matiang’i home county of Nyamira where he was hosted by the minister, Raila assured the Gusii community that he will retain Matiang’i in the Cabinet if his presidential bid materialises.

He said Matiang’I will help the Azimio government finish all the development projects that have been initiated by the Jubilee administration.

Ruto has vowed to fire Matiang’i if he becomes President for openly campaigning for Raila.

Officer Behind Martha Karua Teargassing Arrested

A policeman who reportedly lobbed teargas canisters at Azimio la Umoja’s presidential running mate and other leaders during a rally at Gusii Stadium in Kisii County on Thursday has been arrested.

Angry supporters of Azimio wanted to mob him before his colleagues saved him.

Joseph Makori was arraigned yesterday at a Kisumu court and denied throwing the teargas to cause harm.

He will be detained for 10 days as the police conclude the investigation.

Wanjigi Thrown Out of Presidential Race

The High Court has dealt billionaire Jimi Wanjigi a major blow after throwing out his petition seeking to compel the electoral commission to add him as a presidential candidate.

Justice Jairus Ngaah said Wanjigi’s case lacked merit.

The commission disqualified Wanjigi for lacking a degree certificate and failing to provide 48,000 signatures from at least 24 counties.
