Motorists and their passengers spent a cold night on the busy Naivasha-Nakuru highway in a horrendous 16-hour traffic jam at the Gilgil waybridge.
The drivers of buses, private cars and other motor vehicles traveling from the Nairobi side had to use alternative routes to avoid being caught up in the gridlock.
On realising that there was no movement, drivers were forced to turn off their engines .
The cause of the traffic jam that stretched over 17 kilometres could not be immediately established.
This is not the first time motorists and their passengers have experienced an overnight long traffic jam at this waybridge. Another one occurred several months ago.
Most of the travellers took their anger to social media, blaming the traffic mess on the Nakuru County traffic commandant and the colleges that held their graduation ceremonies on the same day.
