Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) party offices in Kakamega Town were on the night of Sunday, 29th June, 2020, torched by unknown people.
Kakamega ANC branch chairman Julius Arunga, who spoke to journalists this morning, 29th June, said that the arsonists broke one of the windows and doused the inside with petrol before lighting the fire. The office store was the most affected.
Arunga said that the burnt store held some of the materials that were used during the 2017 General Election. This comes just days after the party expelled Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala.
Reports doing the rounds on social media indicate that the offices might have been burnt by a group of rowdy youths opposed to the senator’s expulsion from the party.
However, branch chief executive officer Isaac Otiende explained that the fire had had no effect on the day to day running of the party in the county.
