Machakos Gubernatorial aspirant Nzioka Waita has reacted to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s remarks asking him to step down in favour of Wiper candidate Wavinya Ndeti.

Taking to his social media, the former State House Chief of Staff and Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) party leader urged Kalonzo to keep off Machakos politics and allow the residents to elect the leaders of their choice.

“I keep saying the people of Machakos will decide for themselves who they want as their governor. Attempts to force an endorsement for my competitor fell flat on their face,” Waita said.

Waita’s remarks came shortly after Kalonzo endorsed former Transport Chief Administrative Secretary Wavinya Ndeti for Machakos County’s top seat.

Speaking in Masinga on Sunday afternoon where he had accompanied Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga, Kalonzo said he will initiate talks between the two for a compromise.

“I am happy that Wiper’s team is strong. Those others are our youths, we will talk with them. Nzioka is my friend, I will talk to him. For now, Wavinya is okay,” said Kalonzo.

Nzioka Waita is seeking to succeed Governor Alfred Mutua on the CCU party while Wavinya Ndeti is eying the same seat on a Wiper ticket. The duo will face off against Kenya Kwanza’s candidate Johnson Nduya Muthama.

Both Wiper and CCU are under the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party.
