There was a light moment during a political forum presided over by ODM leader Raila Odinga in Vihiga County yesterday.
A woman, who was given a chance to speak at the event, praised the former Prime Minister for picking Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua as his running mate.
She said women had for long been overlooked in national matters, but now with Karua on the Azimio presidential ticket, things were going to change.
The language she used was, however, controversial.
“Wamama tumefinya kwa muda mrefu. Raundi hii tumesema wamama mfinywe usiku peke yake, mchana hatutafinywa,” she said.
The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate responded to her with a light touch.
“Yule mama amesema wamama wafinywe usiku peke yake, mchana wafanye kazi. Hawawezi kufinywa usiku na vile vile mchana,” he said amid heavy laughter.
While marketing his presidential bid in western Kenya, Raila said he would revive the economy of the region, which is largely a sugarbelt.
He has proposed Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya as the National Treasury Cabinet Secretary-designate should Azimio win the August 9 presidential election.
