West Ham forward Michail Antonio has been named as the English Premier League Player of the Month for August.
The 31-year-old scored four times and registered three assists in the opening three fixtures this season against Newcastle, Leicester City and Crystal Palace.
Antonio saw off competition from teammate Said Benrahma, Chelsea wing-back Marcos Alonso, Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier, Everton winger Demarai Gray and Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.
“It’s amazing, to be fair!” he smiled. “I go out and do my job and to get the gratitude and awards for doing it is amazing,” Antonio told the club’s official website.
“August was just another month, you know! To be fair, it’s amazing. I saw that I was quite close to becoming the record holder and I’ve been going for it and now I want to get as far ahead as possible so nobody can catch me!”
This is the second time the Jamaican international has claimed the Player of the Month prize, having won the first accolade in July 2020.
Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo has won the Manager of the Month award.
Nuno, who was appointed in July as the new manager, guided the Spurs to a 1-0 win over Premier League champions Manchester City before successive victories over Wolves and Watford.
The victories saw Nuno’s side unbeaten and top of the English Premier League table with nine points from three league matches.
Nuno won the first monthly managerial award of the season ahead of Everton boss Rafael Benitez, David Moyes of West Ham and Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel.
