NTV Kiswahili news anchor Jane Ngoiri is not only a celebrated broadcaster, but also great mother.
As the world marks the annual breastfeeding week (between 1st and 7th August), the journalist took some time to narrate her lactation journey.
“This is one of my favourite photos…I was just from breastfeeding…I did it with pride and Joy…and enjoyed every bit of breastfeeding…for six full months,” she wrote on her social media pages while holding her little boy, Amir, who is now three years old.
Despite having a tight work schedule, Ngoiri revealed she always made sure that she breastfed her son.
“I would express hours before going on air for NTV Jioni, have our driver Octopus aki asante (I am truly grateful) for the days you took the milk home for Amir as I worked,” she added.
The seasoned presenter also wished all mothers a happy breastfeeding week.
The World Breastfeeding Week is a global campaign to raise awareness and galvanise action on themes related to breastfeeding. The 2020 theme is “Support breastfeeding for a healthier planet.” WBW is celebrated with the first seven days of August in commemoration of the 1990 Innocenti Declaration.
The Innocenti Declaration was produced and adopted by participants at the WHO/UNICEF policymakers’ meeting on breastfeeding in 1990s.
Jane, who has previously worked with K24 as an English news presenter, got married to Abdillahi Hussein in 2015 and they have a son.
The TV girl keeps her hubby off social media, but during this year’s Father’s day, she described the man of her dreams as simple and charming.
